What to Expect in Couples Therapy
-
A safe start.
We’ll begin by understanding what’s been happening between you — the patterns that leave you stuck in the same fights or feeling distant.
-
Getting underneath the conflict.
You’ll learn to recognize the emotions and beliefs that drive your reactions, so you can see the “cycle” instead of blaming each other.
-
Building new tools.
Together, you’ll practice ways to respond with honesty, respect, and clarity — tools that help you break the cycle and reconnect.
-
A plan forward.
You’ll leave with a clearer sense of how to move toward trust, connection, and the kind of relationship you both want.
About Dr. Corynne Keirnes
I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a deep passion for helping couples strengthen their relationships, rebuild trust, and find a healthier way forward together.
As a wife and mother, I understand the real pressures couples face — balancing responsibilities, navigating conflict, and keeping connection alive in the middle of it all. My philosophy is simple: change is possible when both partners feel safe, understood, and respected.
My style is compassionate, direct, and practical. In our sessions, I focus on creating a supportive space where you and your partner can move beyond surface arguments to uncover what’s really driving the conflict. From there, we’ll build tools that help you communicate with honesty, respond with respect, and reconnect in meaningful ways.
Outside of the office, I stay grounded through family, hiking, and time outdoors — practices that remind me of the importance of presence, balance, and connection.
